There is a natural disaster headed your way. You get 4 standard sized canvas grocery totes to fill with valuables and provisions to bring with you to a safe place. What would you put into your 4 bags and why?

You know, I actually think about stuff like this from time to time, so I have a ready answer. In order I would...
1. Stuff the first one with important papers like birth certificates, passports, house and insurance stuff...especially home owner's insurance stuff because it's stuff you need no matter your location.
2. Family photos/memorabilia/selected items of jewelry because they cannot be replaced.
3. Laptop, external hard drives and storage devices because intellectual property and all manner of records are stored therein.
4. Clothes, shoes and as much underwear as you can cram in because...well, if you really need to know the "why" on this one, you're probably in way over your head and need to stop reading.
RG...out!
It can never be put into words enough to do what I am feeling justice.
I spent the greater part of 300+ miles riding straight behind Mike on what was THE best ride I have ever been on. I learned more in that one day then I have in the two years I have spent on my Harley.
I have no doubts that that ride will go down in history as one of my most memorable rides. Not because of the tragedy, but because of the other 300+ miles of shear awesomeness that I shared with my best friends: Robin, my dad, and Mike.
I rode back from the crash site on Monday night after ridding up there to be with the family and some close friends to hang a cross in his remembrance, and I laughed almost the whole way down the hill. If you ever talked to Mike about ridding and mentioned bugs then you heard his joke. "How do you tell a happy Harley Rider? By all the bugs in his teeth!" and then he would put the biggest toothy grin on his face. Well Coming down the hill...it was really buggy that night, and I have heard him tell that stupid joke at least a million times. I laughed all the way back to Monroe that night (and I still have bugs on my jacket hahahahaha).
Mike:
you were an incredible man, and will forever influence me in the way I live my life. Thanks for sharing your passion with me on your finale day here on this earth. That day was AMAZING!

He leaves behind his daughter, Cherise Durr, of Monroe, WA; and son, Bryan Wallace, who is serving in the Air Force and is stationed in South Carolina; his granddaughter, Dakota Durr and soon to be granddaughter, Mikel Durr; and numerous family and friends who will surely miss him. He loved, loved, loved more than anything riding his Harley Davidson, but his true passion was Christ. If you met him in person for the first time, you would probably think him unapproachable, but once you started talking to him you realized his heart was filled with nothing but love for the Lord and anyone who needed him. He was an active member of The Rock Church, acting as "secret service" to the pastor. He loved many things in his lifetime, hunting, horseback riding, fishing, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. He was the quiet one, sitting casually by your side until unexpectantly, he had you laughing. His cheshire cat grin will be missed. We know you were called for a much bigger job that God knew only you could handle. We love you Dad forever and always! Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at The Rock Church in Monroe, WA. | ||
This year, the judges of the California Supreme Court overturned the previous ban on gay marriages in this state. The decision for the ruling was based on the fact that there is no provision in the state constitution that backed up the original ruling.
Since this decision, people have been crawling out of the woodwork to complain.
"Activist judges pushing a pro-homosexual agenda!" They cry, while ignoring the fact that the judges in the California supreme court are Republican and decided that under the letter of the state constitution, the previous ruling was unlawful.
"Well if you're going to marry a guy, why not your dog or a 5 year old?!?" A disgusting argument, not just because of the logical fallacies, but of the implication that gay people are no better than pedophiles and those who practice bestiality. Let me explain to you why it will never be legal to marry your dog or a child. Putting aside the fact that all places with gay marriage have not (and will not) legalize either bestiality or pedophilia, one has to understand that there is no way on this green earth that it COULD be legalized. Animals can not consent, therefore there will never be a provision under the law that allows you to marry one. Children do not have the mental capacity to consent, therefore there will never be a provision under the law that allows adults to marry children. Gay marriage is no different than straight marriage, because it involves two consenting adults who love one another getting married. Of course this leads to my other complaint about this argument, which is the implication that gay people are less than human. Anyone who has this belief, I encourage you to open your eyes and understand the fact that you probably know a gay person, and they're no different than straight people.
"The majority of people hate this and think it's sick! Since when do we pass laws to appease the minority?!" If we lived by majority rule, interracial marriage would still be illegal, and most likely, prayer would still be in schools. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be okay with that, but it's equally ridiculous to use the rule of the majority to oppress the minority.
They're going to teach gayness in schools!!!
I wish I was making this one up. I really, really do. But once again people just can't seem to realize that "gay" cannot be taught, any more than "straight" can. I know plenty of people who would sign up for that "How to be attracted to the opposite sex" class if it would actually work, because really, no gay person hasn't wondered how much easier and less painful their life would be if they were just "normal". This is, additionally, why nobody "chooses" to be gay. Then again, the people that are squacking about "gay being taught in schools" are the same ones who think that giving teenagers condoms will make them have sex, disregarding the fact that teenagers are GOING to have sex, no matter what the circumstances, and that giving them condoms would keep them from getting pregnant and contracting sexually transmitted diseases. Case in point, my 17 year old cousin (though she only turned 17 within the last few weeks) is 7 months pregnant. If she had been given condoms by the Michigan school system, this could have been avoided. It's not that I think children are some awful burden, but really, shouldn't she have finished high school first? She wants to be a nurse, how is she going to go through nursing school with an infant?
But I digress. Here's my real point.
Proposition 8 will be on the ballots this November. If Prop. 8 passes, the language of the California State Constitution will be changed to recognize that marriage is between "One Man and One Woman". In other words, the bigots win and all the couples who got married since the rightful overturning of the unlawful bill will have it ripped away from them. Our country needs to step forward away from it's puritanical mores, and get with the 21st century.
So, please, if you're in California, vote no on Prop. 8.
/end soapbox.
I am a farmer who raise ducks and cows. The animals have a total of 9 heads and 26 feet. How many ducks and cows do I have?

I used to be good at mathematics—in fact, I got a scholarship to university for statistics. Amazing how I forgot all that stuff and it took me a while to dig it out of my head.
Expressing the above as an algebraic equation:
d+c=9
2d+4c=26
Which means:
2d+2c=18
therefore –2d–2c=–18
therefore subtracting from the second equation, we have 2c=8
dividing by 2 gives c=4
d=9–4=5
The farmer has four cows, five ducks.
It's just before 7:00 am and my doctor just came in to check out everything. The surgery went very well. We should be heading home this morning after a stop at the physical therapist.
It's amazing to me the knowledge and skill of people in the medical field. Knowing exactly what to do when to do it and always doing with a smile (at least that was my experience!). Thanks to all you who checked on me in some form or fashion. I can definitely feel the love!
Now for the journey to recovery...

Who else thought this? The Jaquie Brown Diaries is the funniest new comedy of 2008! Snappy writing, almost perfect timing, good casting. Brown, playing herself, is a natural at a sitcom. (And from my infrequent encounters, she is very humorous in real life.) This might even be exportable—maybe back to Brown’s British homeland? It would work there.
The rapper interview was hilarious.
TV3 needs to do a far better job promoting it, mind.
Thank you all for your prayers! The academy known as Stone Gate Christian Academy in Irving TX has been blessed! The much needed fire control/alarm system is being provided for as well as both buses which were no longer necessary have likely been sold! This puts us on much more stable footing for the coming school year. Blessings upon all who have prayed through this!
