The Wilderness, The Promised Land and Spiritual Muscle
Through the years I have learned a lot about Moses leading the Israelites in the desert and finally to the promised land. They wandered for 40 years in what should have been an 11 day trip. Many times when I go through tough times I say, "Lord is this the wilderness or the promised land." I have had wilderness adventures, but I am learning to press on in Christ as he fulfills his promises in my life.
As we go through difficult times, the Lord gives us "spiritual muscles." I can carry much heavier loads these days, have much more compassion and have learned what it means to be desperate in prayer. The more we go through the stronger we become. That doesn't mean things are not hard, but we are better equipped to handle them.
God tells us to put on our armor. The word of God has become a vital resource and there is no substitute. I used to look for a formula, try to find out how other people prayed and finally God told me very clearly, "do not try to live off of someone else's revelation, I will reveal myself to you and you don't have to depend on others." That does not mean I do not value a great sermon, book or article, but I want God's word for my life straight from above.
I have never understood why someone would pray to anyone other than Jesus. I want the advocate who is at the right hand of the father. Not the second hand but the RIGHT hand. If I am a co-heir with Christ, then why settle for anything less.
If you are struggling, needing a great answer to prayer or just want God's presence, open up the word and talk to your heavenly Father. He will be your best friend, take great care of you and reveal himself to you in amazing ways.
God is so awesome. Let him minister to the depths of your heart. I have been on my face saying help me Jesus and rejoicing in the greatest moments in life. In all things, He loves you.
Love, Carol
